What is a Team Leader or Supervisor?
A Team leader or supervisor is a first line management role, with operational and project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Who is it suitable for?
It is suitable for Room Leaders, Deputies or Managers who do not have a management qualification and who want to develop their strengths in leading and managing people.

It is a qualification that is transferrable to all sectors.

What does the training involve?
Your training will help you to develop the occupational standard’s knowledge, skills and behaviours through blended learning which will involve:

Training sessions at our training centre;
Coaching and training in the workplace;
Remote sessions held online;
Assignments and tasks which you carry out as off the job training;
Observation, assessment and feedback from your assessor(s);
Compiling a portfolio of evidence to show that you are working at, or above, the occupational standard.

Length of course: 12-18 months

Assessment:
Achievement is dependent on an end point assessment that is carried out by an external assessor. The assessment includes:
  1. Presentation, with questions and answers
  2. Professional discussion underpinned by the Portfolio of Evidence

You will be fully supported in your preparation for this end point assessment.

Entry requirements:
Maths and English at level 2 or equivalent.
Working in a supervisory, team leader, deputy or management role.
