Our courses are designed to provide you with broad and varied experiences, and you can expect your course to include the following:
- Team building sessions, giving you the opportunity to learn in a different environment
- Opportunity to be involved as a learner representative at committees, dealing with equality & diversity, health & safety and social & welfare issues
- Mentor support at your work placement
- Experience working with all ages in our nursery settings, not just one age range
- Experience of older children, through placements at holiday and after-school clubs

Apprenticeship placements
Whether or not you’re certain that you want a career in childcare, we can arrange for you to do one of our “taster days” before embarking on an Apprenticeship programme. You would be welcomed into one of Puffins of Exeter's nurseries, where you would spend the day shadowing one of their experienced staff. You can decide at the end of the day whether or not to apply for one of our training placements.
