Level 3 Apprenticeship for the Early Years Educator
The Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship is suitable if you have already completed a Level 2 Apprenticeship or equivalent and are aiming to work with children in a supervisory role, planning and organising your own work.

You are eligible if you are over 16 and working in a childcare setting. You should be in full time employment, and most of your training is through work-based learning (i.e. on-the-job). In addition, you can attend day release session at our training centre in Exeter or complete tasks and assignments to cover knowledge-based requirements of the apprenticeship.

Achieving the Level 3 Apprenticeship means that you achieve a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (equivalent to A-levels). You will also achieve a paediatric first aid certificate if you do not already have one, and functional skills Mathematics and English if you do not have grade 4/C at GCSE.

If this sounds like a lot to take on, don’t worry – most of your learning and assessment takes place on-the-job, and you get plenty of support from your tutor and assessor.

How long does it take?
The Level 3 apprenticeship will take 18 months with a combination of work-based learning and off the job training. This will include level 2 Functional skill in Maths and English and if the Apprentice has not acquired grade 4/C GCSEs in school.

Equivalent educational level:
Level 3 will gain you 32 Ucas points.

Progression:
If you are planning to go to university or move into a more managerial position, then the Level 3 Apprenticeship is a good alternative to A-Levels. You can use it to work as a childminder, a day care supervisor, a pre-school supervisor or a family support worker or classroom assistant. You can progress on to role specific CPD qualifications, to managerial or coaching focused apprenticeships, or to the Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship.
